Animatronic Illustrations
Drawing existing animatronic mechanisms allow me to see how they are designed and assembled, which then aid in my ability to come up with my own concepts.

Design Process Drawings
These are drawings that illustrate my thought process when designing how I want mechanisms to function. I consider these drawings to be early in the design stage, as they are some of the first illustrations I made of the finished concept. 
Everything I design and build starts in a sketchbook, because I find drawing to be the fastest way to conceptualize my ideas and visualize how things will move. 
Once an initial concept is realized, I will proceed to model it in a CAD software. From there, I will typically 3D print prototypes and experiment with altering dimensions and appearances until the parts/assemblies work as intended. 
Every new part I create will have multi-view drawings of it that show every dimension necessary for the recreation and repeatability of making the part.

Drawings specifically for reverse-engineering of existing mechanisms
I learn a lot about how things move just by drawing the mechanism in question. When I illustrate each component of an assembly, I am able to visualize which parts are moving what, and how it is all working together. 
Reverse-engineering is essential in learning how to design my own mechanisms, I must first learn what has been done before, if it worked well or not, and if I wish to take elements from that design or abandon it completely.
