Dinosaur Animatronic Band Concept
This idea stemmed from the desire to bring back "animatronic entertainment" in a new light. Gone are the glory days where animatronic restaurant chains were at their peak, but that doesn't mean the concept cannot work anymore; it just needs to be re-invented. That's where my idea comes in.
"Mesozoic Mayhem" is a Punk Rock band that will be composed of medium sized carnivores to maintain a general realistic scale. I chose all unique dinosaur species, because I want to introduce the average "dinosaurs are cool" person to more super cool species!

I am designing two animatronic bands; one will be a blues/jazz band composed of herbivores, and the other will be a punk/rock band composed of carnivores
The idea is to create a band that is a new and fresh take on an old concept. My target demographic is no longer just kids, it is adults. Adults enjoy themed entertainment when it is relevant to them; hence why you see adults that go to theme parks by themselves.
If I can design a band that has a more mature, but still colorful and full of character look, that also plays music that is appealing to an adult audience, the idea could work.
I went with dinosaurs, because who doesn't like dinosaurs? Plus, they have so many physical characteristics that can be utilized to make some really cool punk/rock designs. Dinosaurs have edginess to them that is perfect for the overall vibe of this band.
When I start brainstorming a character design, I start out by studying the species of dinosaur the character could/will be. Through this study, I can see which features are reoccurring in a variety of paleoart to then incorporate in my own design. Once I get a good idea of the species I am working with, I move onto "cartoonifying" key features and anthropomorphizing them.
